RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN
PARK REQUESTING THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS,
DIVISION OF HIGHWAYS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, CON-
SENT TO THE ERECTION OF DIRECTIONAL SIGNS
WHEREAS, the San Bernardino Freeway, which is under the
control of the Department of Public Works, Division of High-
ways of the State of California, passes through the City of
Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Highways has not been consistent
in regard to directional signs which are permitted on State
Freeways in that in some localities signs are erected which
direct the routes to cities, and in some localities said
directional signs are not permitted; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
believes that the Division of Highways has permitted the
construction of signs which advertise business enterprises
along and upon the San Bernardino Freeway Right of Way; and
WHEREAS, the Division of Highways has permitted
directional signs for other cities on the San Bernardino
Freeway and on other Freeways in the State; and
WHEREAS, the Division has not permitted directional
signs for the City of Baldwin Park which will adequately
apprise motorists of the location of the City.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park does RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER as follows;
SECTION 1: The Department of Public Works, Division of
Highways of the State of California, is hereby requested and
urged to adopt in writing and enforce definite rules and
procedures in regard to the placement of directional signs
on the State Freeway System, and that the City of Baldwin
Park be accorded the same rights and privileges which have
been granted to other municipalities in the State of Cali-
fornia in regard to the Freeway System,
SECTION 2; The City Clerk shall attest to the adoption
of this resolution and shall cause certified copies of the
same to be sent to the various state representatives of the
City of Baldwin Park.

I, ELMER COOK, City Clerk of the City of Baldwin Park,
California, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly adopted by the City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park and was approved by the Mayor of said City at a
regular____ meeting of said City Council held on the
3rd day of February_____^ 19$8, and that it was adopted
by the following vote:
