A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK URGING
THE CALIFORNIA PUBLIC UTILITIES
COMMISSION TO PROHIBIT BULK BILLING.
WHEREAS, telephone service In the Los Angeles area
consists of flat rate service and message rate service; and
WHEREAS, because of the size of the Los Angeles
area, most consumers use both types of service; and
WHEREAS, the billing for message rate service is
not itemized and the consumer is thereby forced to accept
the message rate charge or be put to the inconvenience of
requesting an Itemized statement thereof,
NOW,, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park does resolve that the California Public Utili-
ties Commission be, and it hereby is, respectfully urged
to initiate action to require telephone companies in the
State of California to itemize message rate service when
billing the consumer therefor.
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the City Clerk shall mail
a certified copy of this resolution to the California Public
Utilities Commission, State Building, San Francisco 2, Cali-
fornia.
