A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF TEE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK URGING
THE METROPOLITAN TRANSIT AUTHORITY
TO INCLUDE THE EAST SAN GABRIEL
VALLEY IN ANY METROPOLITAN TRANS-
PORTATION PLAN OR DEVELOPMENT.
WHEREAS., Metropolitan Transit Authority is a State
Agency endowed by the State of California with powers and
authority to establish a Metropolitan Transportation System
serving all of the communities of Los Angeles County^ and
WHEREAS, several proposals have been made to the
Metropolitan Transit Authority for the Improvement of Los
Angeles County's Inadequate transportation system; and
WHEREAS, some of these proposals stress the Impor-
tance of serving certain areas of Los Angeles County without
mentioning the Importance of the East San Gabriel Valley in
any transportation system for Los Angeles County,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park does resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the Metropolitan Transit Author-
ity in planning and developing a county-wide transportation
system to meet the needs of this county in accordance with
the powers add duties bestowed upon said Agency take into
consideration the vital transportation needs of the East
San Gabriel Valley.
SECTION 2. That the Metropolitan Transit Author-
ity consider the needs of all communities of this County
without special favor to any one city or community.
SECTION 3. That the Metropolitan Transit Author-
ity in accordance with the duty bestowed upon it give immed-
iate consideration to the alleviation of the acute transportation
problems existing in all cities and communities of this county
by means of an adequate monorail or other transportation
system serving all areas as a regional system.
SECTION 4. The City Cleric is directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the Metropolitan Transit Author-
ity and to the Los Angeles County Division of the League of
California Cities.
ADOPTED by the City Council, signed by the Mayor,
and attested by the City Clerk this 7t-h__________day
