A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK URGENTLY REQUESTING THE PRODUCERS,
DISTRIBUTORS AND EXHIBITORS OF MOTION PICTURES
IN IH35 AREA TO CEASE FORTHWITH THE PRESENTATION
CF FIL16 TO THE PUBLIC WHICH ARE SALACIOUS IN
NATORE OR WHICH PORTRAY THEMES INVOLVING NARCOTICS,
ADDICTION, SEXUAL DEVIATION OR PROMISCUITY, AS
CONSTITUTING A MENACE TO THE MORALS CF THE CITIZENS
OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK AND THE PEOPLE AS A
WHOLE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park views
with grave concern the fact that motion pictures have from time to
time been exhibited in this City which are salacious in nature and
depict, however subtly, themes involving narcotics, addiction, sexual
deviation and sexual promiscuity^ and
WHEREAS, it is grossly apparent that such films are violative
of the principles of good taste and morality and can but lead to the
degradation of the average viewer, and that they appeal to the baser
nature of mankind; and
WHEREAS, tremendous damage is done to the individual seeing
such pictures, notwithstanding a token effort may have been made in
the writing of the scripts thereof to indicate, at the conclusion, that
such evil portrayals are justly rewarded by the appropriate punishment
of the characters concerned;
NOW, THEREFORE, TOE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK
DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section That the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
urgently requests the producers, distributors and exhibitors of motion
pictures in this area to cease forthwith the presentation of films to
the public which are salacious in nature, or which portray themes in-
volving narcotics addiction, sexual deviation or sexual promiscuity as
constituting a menace to the morals of the citizens of the City of
Baldwin Park and the people as a whole.
Section 2. That the City Clerk be and is hereby authorized
and directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to each
exhibitor of motion pictures in the City of Baldwin Park as evidence
of the grave concern of this City Council in connection with the
