HomeMy WebLinkAbout1960 045 CC RESO1960 045 CC RESO ZX ZPI8RESOLUTION NO 60-45 RESOLUTION OF TOE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK SETTING FORIH TEIE POLICY THAT WILL BE FOLLOWED BY THE CITY IN IHE EVENT OF IKE DISSOLUTION OF THE BALDWIN PARK PARK 5 RECREATION AND PARKWAY DISTRICT. WHEREAS, there presently exists within the City of Baldwin Park a special County Park District named the Baldwin Park Park, Recreation and Parkway District, which district is under the direction and control of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles, and WHSREAS, said Board of Supervisors has called for an election to determine whether or not said park district should be dissolved, and WHEREAS, the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation has officially endorsed the proposal to dissolve said Park District, and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park desires to inform the voters and taxpayers of the City, of the policy that will be followed by the City in the event that the park district is dissolved and Morgan Park and Bames Park are deeded to the City; NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL CF ffiE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES RESOLVE, DEIERMBIE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: In the event that the Baldwin Park Park, Recreation and Parkway District is dissolved and Morgan Park and Barnes Park are transferred to the City of Baldwin Park, the City shall; a) Expend and use all the assets which are received as the result of the dissolution of the district, solely and exclusive- ly for the betterment of Morgan and Barnes Parks, b) Use and operate Morgan and Barnes Parks solely and exclusively for park and recreational purposes. c) Form a park and recreation committee comprised of residents of the City of Baldwin Park, to assure the voters and tax- payers of the City that the two parks shall be operated in all respects at the lowest possible cost, to assure the greatest util- ization of the parks for the benefit of all the residents in the City, and to carry out a park and recreational program which is wanted by the people in the City of Baldwin Park, and to assure the inhabitants of the City that home rule will be followed. SECTION 2: The City Council will further establish the policy that in all matters which affect the park and recreational program of the City that the wishes and desires of the inhabitants of the City will be followed for the greatest benefit at the lowest cost.
