A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK GRANT-
ING A ZONE EXCEPTION TO C. R. COOK
TO ERECT OVERSIZE SIGN NEAR FREEWAY
AT NORTHEAST CORNER OF PUENTE
AVENUE AND GARVEY AVENUE
WHEREAS, C. R. Cook operates a truck sales yard
at the northeast corner of Puente Avenue and Garvey Avenue,
in the City of Baldwin Park, County of Los Angeles, State
of California, on real property described as follows:
Those portions of Lots 1 to 5, Inclusive,
of Tract No. 13721, as shown on map recorded in
Book 273, pages 48 to 50, inclusive, of maps,
in the Office of the County Recorder of said
County, described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the northerly
line of said Lot 1, distant thereon, north 79
deg. 12 min. 41 sec, west, 73.59 feet from the
northeasterly corner of said Lot 1; thence
North 79 deg. 13 min. 41 sec. west along said
northerly line 67.33 feet; thence south 45 deg,
34 min. 54 sec. west 224.60 feet; thence south
40 deg. 37 min. 34 sec. west 228.73 feet; thence
south 19 deg. 46 min. 34 sec. east 4.50 feet;
thence southeasterly, easterly and, northeasterly
along a tangent curve, concave northerly, having
a radius of 35 feet through an angle of 86 deg.
14 min. 12 sec. an arc distance of 52.68 feet;
thence north 73 deg. 59 min. 14 sec. east 11,06
feet; thence north 52 deg. 31 min. 29 sec. east
79.14 feet; thence north 4l deg. 16 min. 04 sec.
east 376.19 feet; thence northeasterly, along a
tangent curve, concave southeasterly, having a
radius of 170,00 feet through an angle of 4 deg.
47 min. 47 sec. an arc distance of 14.23 feet
to the point of beginning,
EXCEPTING approximately 127 feet of the
southwesterly end of said lot which lies within
the City of West Covlna;
and
WHEREAS, said C. R, Cook desires to erect a sign
on said real property within 500 feet of the San Bernardino
Freeway, having a facing area larger than the size permitted
by the zoning ordinance; and
WHEREAS, said C. R. Cook has applied for an ex-
ception to erect said sign; and

Z P I ‘8WHEREAS, the Planning Commission duly held a
public hearing on said exception after giving requisite
notice thereof and has recommended that the exception be
granted, subject to certain conditions; and
WHEREAS, the City Council duly held a public
hearing on the granting of said exception a^fter giving
requisite notice thereof, and there were no protests at
said hearing,
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of
Baldwin Park does find, determine and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That an exception is hereby granted
to said C» R. Cook to erect a sign on said real property,
advertising the business conducted on the premises, as
follows:
1. The sign shall be located and designed
substantially as shown on a plot plan filed with
the Planning Commission and marked Exhibit A".
2. The facing areas shall not exceed
240 square feet per side.
3. The sign shall be perpendicular to
the freeway and shall contain no flashing or
rotating lights or any object simulating motion.
Section 2. That said exception shall not become
effective until the owner of the property on which the sign
is located files an affidavit with the Planning Department
of the City of Baldwin Park accepting the foregoing condi-
tions.
Section 3. That said exception is necessary for
the preservation of a substantial property right of the
owners and will not be materially detrimental to the pub-
lic welfare nor to the property of other persons located
in the vicinity thereof,

Z P I ‘8Section 4. That said exception shall terminate
and become void if any condition thereof or any statute
or ordinance applicable thereto is violated.
ADOPTED by the City Council, signed by the Mayor,
and attested by the City Clerk, this____l7th_________
