A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK OPPOSING
LEGISLATION LEGALIZING MARIJUANA
WHEREAS, It has been proposed that legislation be passed legalizing
marijuana i and
WHEREAS, the legalizing of marijuana will subject untold nunbers
of our citizens to the personal tragedy and suffering from the use of
marijuana; and
WHEREAS, such action would result in millions of dollars of
additional cost to the public by persons who may comnit crimes white
under the influence of marijuana; and
WHEREAS, the legalizing of marijuana would serve only to compound
what is now one of the most serious and complex problems facing the
State of California and would create a clear and present danger to the
health, safety and welfare of all our citizens;
NOW. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA:
SECTION 1. That this City Council strenuously opposes any proposed
legislation legalizing marijuana; and
SECTION 2. That this Council urges all cities and counties in this
state to oppose this action.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk of the City of Baldwin Park shall
certify to the adoption of this Resolution and forward a copy hereof to
the Governor, California Legislature and to the League of CAilfomia
Cities.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 3rd doy of May 1972.
