A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK PROPOSING THAT BALDWIN PARK
BE DESIGNATED AN URBAN GROWTH CENTER UNDER
THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ACT OF 1965.
TME CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS» the Public Works and Economic Development Act
of 1965. authorizes the setting up of Economic Development Districts
to help solve job and income problems in areas of high unemployment
or ION family income; and
WHEREAS* the City of Baldwin Park is situated in an
economically distressed area with high unemployment and low family
Income; and
WHEREAS* the City is participating in an overall Economic
Development Program in Los Angeles County; and
WHEREAS, the City presently has ten 10) projects being
considered for economic development assistance; and
WHEREAS, a parallel effort Is being made to establish
Economic Development Districts within the County; and
WHEREAS, the City has been advised of Its eligibility to
be designated as an Urban Growth Center, providing an Economic
Development District Is established by the County of Los Angeles; and
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Baldwin Part that should an Economic Development District
be established within Los Angeles County that the City of Baldwin
Park be designated as am Urban Growth Center, under the Economic
Oevelofwnt Act of 1965.
K IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify
to the adoption of this Resolution.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of January 1973.
