Home My WebLink About1973 045 CC RESO1973 045 CC RESO(ÌìÿMRESOLUTION NO. 73-45 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, CALLING AND GIVING NOTICE OF THE HOLDING OF A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD IN SAID CITY ON TUESDAY, MAY 8, 1973, FOR THE SUBMISSION TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF SAID CITY OF A CERTAIN PROPOSAL RE- LATING TO THE ADOPTION OF A CHARTER FOR SAID CITY. WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park has been and now is a City containing more than three thousand five hundred 3,500) inhabitants, as ascertained by the last preceding census taken under the authority of the Congress of the United States or of the Legislature of the State of Cali- fornia and WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of the California Constitution and Title 4, Division 2, Chapter 3 of the Government Code of the State of California, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park, being the legislative body thereof, on its own motion did frame the attached charter as a proposed charter for the City of Baldwin Park, NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, DOES HEREBY RESOLVE, DECLARE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That pursuant to the provisions of the California Constitution and Title 4, Division 2, Chapter 3 of the Government Code of the State of California, there shall be and there is hereby called and ordered, held in the City of Baldwin Park, County of Los Angeles, State of California, on Tuesday, the 8th day of May, 1973, a special municipal election of the qualified electors of said City for the purpose of submitting the proposal for the adoption of a charter for said City. SECTION 2. That on the ballot to be used at said special election, in addition to any other matters required by law, there shall be printed substantially the following: Shall the Charter prepared and proposed YES by the City Council of the City of Baldwin NO Park be adopted? A cross x) placed in the voting square after the word YES" in the manner hereinbefore provided shall be counted in favor of the adoption of the charter. A cross x) placed in the voting square after the word NO" in the manner here- inbefore provided shall be counted against the adoption of the charter. SECTION 3. That the ballots to be used at said election shall be, both as to form and matter contained therein, such as may be required by law to be used thereat. That the City Clerk of said City is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to procure and furnish any and all official ballots, notices, printed matter and all supplies, equipment and paraphernalia that may be neces- sary in order to properly and lawfully conduct said election. SECTION 5. That for the purpose, of holding said munici- pal election, there shall be and are hereby established 32 voting precincts consisting of consolidations of the regular ejection precincts in the City of Baldwin Park established for the holding of state and county elections, as said regu- lar election precincts exist on the date of adoption of this resolution. That the polling places for the respective pre- cincts shall be the places hereinafter designated on Exhibit A" attached hereto and incorporated by this reference; and that the persons hereinafter named, on Exhibit A" attached hereto and incorporated by this reference, being competent and qualified electors and residents of said City and of their respective voting precincts, are hereby appointed officers of election for their respective voting precincts and they shall hold said election and make return thereof in the manner pro- vided by law. SECTION 6. That the compensation of the persons herein- above named as election officers is hereby fixed at the sum of Twenty One $21) Dollars for each Inspector, and Eighteen $18) Dollars for each Judge and Clerk, for said election. The rental for each of such.polling places where a charge is made, shall be the sum of Fifteen $15) Dollars, for said election. When required, the compensation of the Custodian of a building shall be Fifteen $15) Dollars for said election SECTION 7. That the polls for said election shall be open at seven o'clock a.m. of the day of said election and shall remain open continuously from said time until seven o'clock p.m. of the same day, when said polls shall be closed, except as provided in Section 14436 pf the Elections Code of the State of California. SECTION 8. That in all particulars not recited in this Resolution, said election shall be held and conducted as provided by law for holding municipal elections in said City. SECTION 9. That notice of the time and place of holding said election is hereby given and the City Clerk is hereby authorized, instructed and directed to give such further or additional notice of said election in time, form and manner as required by law. SECTION'TcT.
