WEREAS, the Baldwin Park Optimist Club is oriented toward
youth; their motto being Friend of Youth", ctnd
fiWEREAS, Baldwin Park Optimists annually hold Youth Oratorical
Contests for boys and this year are also holding an Oratorical
Contest for girls, and
WERfAS, Baldwin Park Optimist Club was awarded Friend of the
Boy A^avd Tor Optimist International 1971-72; Presidential Citation
Awa.'d to" Optimist International 19/1-72, and Honor Club Optitnst
Interndtional 1971-72, and
WEREAS, Baldwin Park Optimist sponsored cross country tr'dck
meets for Baldwin Park High School and Sierra Vista High School;
co-sponsored the Policeman of the if ear Banquet,, and
WEREAS,, Baldwin Park Optimist Club was instrumental in
accumulating toys valued at $9,400.00 for Toys for Tots 1972 and
bringing Sant^. and his helpers to hospitals^ rest homes and shopping
areas of Baldwin Park, 1972, and
WEREAS, the bulk of funds raised by the Bdtdwin Park Optimist
Club goes directly to the youth of Baldwin Park,
HOW. THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park
does hereby resolve that the Baldwin Park Optimist Club be comnended
for their realistic approach toward outstanding achievements of the
youth cf Baldwin Park.
B£ IT FURTHER RESOLVEV that the Bdldwin Park Optimist Club be
given a copy of this resolution as a token if the City's recognition
and appreciation for their dedication to Youth and Community.
