A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK REQUESTING AN ALLOCA-
TION OF COUNTY AID TO CITIES FUNDS FOR THE
ACQUISITION OF RIGHT OF WAY FOR THE IMPROVE-
MENT OF RAMONA BOULEVARD FROM VIRGINIA AVENUE
TO FRANCISQUITO AVENUE
WHEREAS, Ramona Boulevard is a major city street in the Select System
of streets of the City of Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, Ramona Boulevard is a part of the Baldwin Park Boulevard et a1
cooperative County and City Project; and
WHEREAS, Ramona Boulevard serves the Cities of West Covina, Covina, El
Monte, Baldwin Park and unincorporated County Territory; and
WHEREAS, that portion of Ramona Boulevard from Virginia Avenue to Fran-
cisquito Avenue has previously been improved over and upon portions of property
owned by the Southern Pacific Railroad pursuant to an agreement between the
Railroad and the City of Baldwin Park; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park has agreed to compensate the Southern
Pacific Railroad for all required street right of way for the Ramona Boulevard
improvement at the fair market value which has been established as $500,000; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park has previously received allocations of
$58,098.00 County Resolution No. 1724-D) and $55,999.00 County Resolution No.
1724-C) from Aid to Cities Funds apportioned to the City for the acquisition of
Ramona Boulevard right of way; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park rquires a total of Two Hundred Fifty
Thousand Dollars $250,000) for the Ramona Boulevard right of way acquisition
from the accumulated County Aid to Cities apportionments for Baldwin Park.
NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Baldwin
Park as follows:
SECTION 1. That the City of Baldwin Park requests that the County of Los
Angeles participate with the City in the Ramona Boulevard Improvement Project by
the allocation of an additional One Hundred Thirty Five Thousand Nine Hundred
Three Dollars $135,903) of County Aid to Cities Funds apportioned to the City for
the right of way acquisition specified above and to pay this amount to the City
when claimed.
SECTION 2. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution and shall forward copies hereof to the Los Angeles County Road Com-
missioner for processing.
