HomeMy WebLinkAbout1976 002 CC RESO1976 002 CC RESO(Ììø RESOLUTION NO. 76-2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITYžD[ˆFLDWIN PARK STRONGLY URGING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS TO CONTINUE THE PгTf„S AID-TO-CITY PROGRAM FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THAT PORTION OF THE HIGHWAYS INCLUDED IN THE¦tZpžBR PLAN OF HIGHWAYS WITHIN THE CITIES OF LOS ANGELES COUNTY WHEREAS, a portion of thã\B¹'Tax Funds are annually allocated for the maintenance and/or construction of the highways¢rW¯c on the Jounty's Master Plan of Highways; and WHEREAS, a portion of the County'WûNB¹ser Plan of High- ways passes through various cities within the County of Los AngŸ+M&an*Ï"ó2QHEREAS, these funds are presently equitably apportioned to these cities; and WÆsWf‹T, these funds are urgently needed and required to protect the existing County Master Plan¢dm‚nghway system which represents an investment worth billions of dollars and many years of ¿cP¾uuction? and WHEREAS, to neglect the maintenance of th`s highway system whould not be fµnB¦ky sound; and WHEREAS, the diversion of Gas Tax Funds for Rapid Transit is a worthy proKÛlNêwroviding that existing public facilities are^not jeopardized; and WHEREAS, the Aid-to-,tJ¯t Fund can be used for both maintenance and construction and Highway Through Cities Funds .ØbMêee used for only construction and cannot be relied upon for normal operation and maintenan)¸!E¿ictions; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED Section 1 That the City Council of the City)oŠX½A¦cwin Park does hereby strongly urge the continuance of the Aid-to-City Program SL^p?138…"¤c maintenance of that portion of the County's Master Plan of Highways that are wiŽ/iOêshe cities of Los Angeles. Section 2 That if funding of the Master Plan of the Count7kHH­oway System is to be reduced, that the Highway Through Cities Program be reduced rather tŒÉ`¾oe Aid-to-City Program since the Aid- to-City Program can be used more effectively and eff3®iD¤sly on an annual basis as a part)of the normal city budget process. Section 3 That aö¦nQ³'of this resolution be sent to the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the Los Angeles Division of the League of California Cities.
