A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK, URGING
OPPOSITION TO PROPOSITIONS R & T,
RELATIVE TO A RAPID TRANSIT SYSTEM
PROPOSED FOR THE GREATER LOS ANGELES
METROPOLITAN AREA AND KNOWN AS THE
SUNSET COAST LINE"
WHEREAS, Propositions R & T will appear on the June 8th
ballot, and
WHEREAS, the Rapid Transit System proposed contemplates no
major improvements in service to the San Gabriel Valley, and
WHEREAS, these Propositions authorize a l/2<s sales tax for
construction of a system which will be utilized by less than
10% of the people in the County, and
WHEREAS, this inflexible rail system will place a tax
burden on future generations and will not improve air quality
or conserve energy;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Baldwin Park hereby opposes Propositions R & T
and urges defeat of the Propositions by the voters of Los
Angeles County.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk be instructed
to forward a copy of this Resolution to news media in the San
Gabriel Valley.
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 19th day of May, 1976.
