RESOLUTION NO. 76-78
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DECLARING
THAT A CERTAIN PARCEL OF CITY PROP-
ERTY IS SURPLUS AND AUTHORIZING ITS
DISPOSAL
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES RESOLVE
AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, The City of Baldwin Park owns, in fee, a certain
parcel of land located on the northwest corner of Central Avenue
and Virginia Avenue, which is also illustrated on Exhibit A",
attached hereto? and
WHEREAS, this parcel of land is the residual parcel of a
substantially larger parcel of land that was acquired in 1959 for
the purpose of realizing the complete dedication and improviement
of both Virginia Avenue and Central Avenue at their intersection;
and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park has found no use for this
parcel of land since its axquisition nor does the City anticipate
any use of it in the future; and
WHEREAS, this parcel of land has been off of the property
tax rolls for 17 years; and
WHEREAS, the property owner adjacent to this parcel of land
has been maintaining it with a planted and well tended lawn for
many years; and
WHEREAS, the property owner adjacent to this parcel of land^
Mr, Robert G. Berry, 3907 Virginia Avenue, desires to obtain title
to this parcel; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Berry has agreed to construct sidewalk along
ther entire street frontage of this parcel of land in exchange for
title to it.
NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved:
I. That the parcel of City owned land illustrated on Exhibit
A", attached hereto, is no longer needed by the City of Baldwin
Park and is hereby declared to be surplus property; and
II. That the best interests of the City of Baldwin Park are
atrved by placing this parcel of land back on the property tax rolls?
and
III. That the highest and best use of this parcel of land is
to consolidate it with the adjoining residential property? and
IV. That the construction of concrete sidewalk along all
street frontage of this parcel of land by the individuals receiving
title to it is considered to be just compensation for the parcel;
and
V. That the offer from Mr. Robert G. Berry, 3907 Virginia
Avenue, of sidewalk construction along all street frontage of this
parcel of land in exchange for title to it is hereby accepted.
APPROVED and ADOPTED this 1st day of September, 1976.
