RESOLUTION OF THE BALDWIN PARK CITY
COUNCIL RECOGNIZING THE EFFORTS OF
THE INTERCOMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT SOCIETY
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park has a population of
47,000 people, many of whom suffer from chronic high unemployment
and low median incomes; and
WHEREAS, a program, locally oriented and privately sponsored
is sorely needed to deal with this problem; and
WHEREAS, an organization titled Intercommunity Improvement
Society" was recently formed to combat the hardships imposed on
unemployed and underemployed persons; and
WHEREAS, the Intercommunity Improvement Society is dedicated
to providing job training and placement for unemployed and under-
employed persons; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper to recognize their efforts
on behalf of the residents of Baldwin Park.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Baldwin Park as follows:
SECTION 1: That the level of unemployment in Baldwin
Park is 9.39 percent.
SECTION 2: That resources from all segments of the
community, private as well as public, are needed to
combat this problem-
SECTION 3: That Intercommunity Improvement Society, a private
organization, be and is hereby commended for its undertaking
in Baldwin Park.
SECTION 4: That Intercommunity Improvement Society be and
is hereby encouraged to bring to pass their stated
objectives for the betterment of the city's unemployed
and underemployed residents.
SECTION 5: That the full cooperation of the city and its
agencies be and is hereby expressed toward implementation
of the employment objectives of the Intercommunity
Improvement Society.
