A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BALDWIN PARK, CALIFORNIA, AFFIRMING ITS
COMMITMENT TO FAIR HOUSING PRACTICES AND TO
THE ENFORCEMENT OF FAIR HOUSING LAWS AS
STATED IN THE FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS ACTS OF
1964 AND 1968
WHEREAS, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 states that no person in
the United States shall, on the grounds of race, color or national origin,
be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise
subjected to discrimination under any program or activity for which the City
receives Federal financial assistance from the Department of Housing and
Urban Development"; and
WHEREAS, the Civil Rights Act of 1968 has declared a national
policy of providing fair housing throughout the United States to all citizens
without regard to race, color, religion or national origin; and
WHEREAS, the City of Baldwin Park is dedicated to upholding these
policies with respect to the sale or rental of a11 property within city
limits;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE:
SECTION 1. That these policies shall be implemented in such a
manner as to ensure that equal opportunity and fair housing practices are
maintained.
SECTION 2. That the City shall receive and act upon all complaints
concerning fair housing practices within the City in an expeditions and
thorough manner pursuant to said federal acts.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of
this Resolution.
