A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BALDWIN PARK REQUESTING THE BOARD
OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES
TO CONSOLIDATE A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION
OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK TO BE HELD ON
NOVEMBER 7, 1978. WITH THE GENERAL ELECTION
TO BE HELD ON NOVEMBER 7, 1978, PURSUANT
TO SECTION 23302 OF THE ELECTIONS CODE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bladwin Park called a
special municipal election in the City of Baldwin Park to be held on
November 7» 1978, for the purpose of submitting to the qualified voters of
the City of Baldwin Park a proposition concerning certain proposals relating
to the development, construction and/or acquisition of public assisted housing
for the City of Baldwin Park as hereinafter set forth; and
It is desirable that said special municipal election be consolidated
with the general election to be held on the same date and that within the City
of Baldwin Park the precincts, polling places and election officers of the
two elections be the same» and that the Board of Supervisors of the County of
Los Angeles canvass the returns of the special municipal election and that
said statewide general election and special municipal election be held in all
respects as if there were only one election;
NOW. THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park does
hereby resolve, determine, and order as follows:
SECTION 1. That pursuant to the requirements of Section 23302 of
the Elections Code, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Los Angeles be
and it hereby is requested to consent and agree to the consolidation of a
special municipal election with the general election on Tuesday. November 7,
1978, for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Baldwin
Park a proposition to appear on the ballot as follows:
Shall the qualified electors of the City of
Baldwin Park approve the development,
construction and/or acquisition of tow-
rent housing projects within the City to
provide not more than 300 dwelling units
for living accommodations for low-income
families and/or individuals, including
senior citizens and handicapped persons.
For purposes of financing these units,
title of some or all units may be held
by profit, non-profit or public
corporations.
SECTION 2. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized to canvass
the returns, of said special municipal election which it is hereby requested
to consolidate with said general election and said election shall be held in
all respects as if there were only one election, and only one form of ballot
shall be used.
SECTION 3. Said Board of Supervisors is hereby requested to issue
instructions to the Registrar of Voters to take any and all steps necessary
for the holding of said consolidated election.
SECTION 4. The City of Baldwin Park recognizes that additional costs
will be incurred by the County by reason of this consolidation and agrees to
reimburse the County for any such costs.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk of the City of Baldwin Park is
hereby directed to file a certified copy of this resolution with the Registrar
of Voters of the County of Los Angeles.
