A JOINT RESOLUTION OF THE CITIES OF
BALDWIN PARK AND IRWINDALE REQUESTING
FRCM THE CALIFORNIA DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION FREEWAY CLEANUP AND
LANDSCAPING
WHEREAS, the Cities of Baldwin Park and Irwindale are
desirous of freeway cleanup and landscaping; and
WHEREAS, these cities individually, and in conjunction with
each other, are aware of the negative impact that the appearance of the
Interstate 10, Interstate 210 and Interstate 605 Freeways gives to
motorists, thereby making these cities appear to be less
environmentally attractive; and
WHEREAS, the Cities of Baldwin Park and Irwindale are aware that
other freeways which were built after the San Bemardino, Foothill,
and San Gabriel River Freeways have been landscaped; and
WHEREAS, Miller Brewing Co., recently located in the vicinity
of 210 Freeway and Irwindale Avenue, has recently awarded a landscaping
and irrigation contract of $2,600,000. This landscaping will be
directly adjacent to the freeway slopes.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Cities of Baldwin Park
and Irwindale request the California Department of Transportation to
clean these freeways and initiate plans for freeway landscaping.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Cities of Baldwin Park and
Irwindale request the California Department of Transportation to implement
such action.
