HomeMy WebLinkAbout1981 058 CC RESO1981 058 CC RESO(ÌìðRESOLUTION NO. 81-58 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK SUPPORTING AB 65 PERTAINING TO PRICING OF CONSUMER COMMODITIES WHEREAS/ AB 65 would require retail grocery stores or grocery departments within a general retail merchandise store that use computers to put prices on most consumer commodities in the supermarket, exempting certain items and businesses from this requirement, and WHEREAS, with the advent of supermarkets computer- izing their checkstands, stores began removing price stickers that could be read by shoppers, and WHEREAS, since the installation of computers was essentially to streamline the control of inventories and recordkeeping and not to remove prices from consumer commodities/ and WHEREAS, the removal of prices from individual items is not in the best interest of the consumer. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Baldwin Park supports AB 65. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution and shall transmit copies to the appropriate local, county and state officials.
