A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BALDWIN PARK PROCLAIMING
THE WEEK OF APRIL 17 23, 1983 AS
VICTIMS RIGHTS WEEK
WHEREAS, the public has an obligation to recognize the plight
of crime victims and witnesses; and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of all citizens and institutions to
play positive roles in unproving the plight of victims of violent crime
and their survivors, and to restore effectiveness to the administration
of criminal justice; and
WHEREAS, better reporting of crime and greater willingness of
persons to testify are essential to the control of crime and the
improvement of justice; and
WHEREAS, creating a better understanding the the rights of
crime victims and witnesses and the nature of our criminal justice system
will help to achieve the goals of crime reduction and restoration of
fairness and effectiveness to the administration of criminal justice;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the
City of Baldwin Park hereby officially acknowledges April 17 23,
1983, as Victims Rights Week".
That the City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this
Resolution.
